yieldHUB Characterize was designed to speed up a key part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.

What is yieldHUB Characterize?

It can take a week after testing is completed to generate a characterization report.

YieldHub Characterize was designed to speed up this key part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and cuts the time from days to an hour or two.

This makes all the difference in semiconductor NPI where time to market is essential.

It offers you the time to do further testing if necessary and re-generate the report quickly.

Who is yieldHUB Characterize for?

It's primarily designed for test engineers to use post silicon. It was launched early in 2019 following interest from companies that were involved with NPI.

Typical users include:

  • Test Engineers (they would typically generate the report)

  • Product Managers (reviewers)

  • Product Engineers (reviewers)

  • QA Managers (reviewers)

  • Designers (reviewers)

  • Marketing engineers (reviewers)

Why did you develop the module?

The module was developed after we received feedback from customers who found the characterization process unnecessarily time-consuming and prone to human error when manipulating data in spreadsheets.

How does yieldHUB Characterize work?

This module has been integrated into the existing yieldHUB platform, however, it is available as a standalone module too. Kevin Robinson, VP of Operations at yieldHUB states: “Many pre-production companies come to us for this tool and then graduate to our gage R&R and production tools when they release their product”.

What are the benefits of using yieldHUB Characterize?

  • Scalability: It can support hundreds, even thousands of tests with multiple conditions each

  • Compatibility: It is simple to generate datalogs (STDF or text-based) that work straight away with the tool

  • Flexibility: You can easily filter and regroup the data & replace a subset of the data if further testing is required for certain conditions

  • Collaboration: Easy sharing of the report with colleagues, to facilitate collaboration

  • Outliers: Comprehensive outlier analysis is built into the tool

  • Online: The tool is cloud-based (private or on secure AWS platform) and reports may be saved online and can be combined into a master report
