YieldHUB sponsors UCC competition
Media release
LIMERICK, IRELAND, 22 APRIL 2022 -
Global semiconductor solutions business YieldHUB will be presenting an award at UCC next week to support the next generation of data scientists.
YieldHUB was founded by UCC engineering alumnus John O’Donnell in 2005. Today the platform is being used by thousands of test engineers around the world with Microchip, Intel, and LG among YieldHUB’s growing list of customers.
The company recently sponsored a competition for fourth-year data science students at University College Cork (UCC).
The purpose was to inspire students to invent new, innovative ideas and to put it to the test.
A total of 15 submissions were received, with the winner set to receive a MacBook Air.
YieldHUB’s chief executive said the company was honored to be announcing the winner on Tuesday at the School Best Paper Award and Student Prizes ceremony.
“I just want to congratulate all of the students who entered the competition, we were impressed with so many of the projects,” Mr. O’Donnell said.
“It’s important to nurture and support future generations, and I think as a company if we have the ability to help, we should. These young minds could change the world.
“There’s a major demand for data scientists and I think it’s great UCC is offering one of the two undergraduate courses available in this country.
“Data science is dynamic and exciting. We are only starting to see its influence across multiple industries.”
YieldHUB develops and licenses a data analytics platform that boosts productivity for test and product engineers during the manufacturing process and testing of semiconductors.
